Performer Notes
  • Personnel: Bill Bruford (drums, percussion); Annette Peacock (vocals); Allan Holdsworth (guitar); Kenny Wheeler (flugelhorn); Dave Stewart (keyboards); Jeff Berlin (electric bass).
  • Recorded at Trident Studios, London, England in August 1977. Includes liner notes by Richard Williams.
  • Personnel: Bill Bruford (drums, percussion); Annette Peacock (vocals); Allan Holdsworth (guitar); Kenny Wheeler (flugelhorn); Dave Stewart (keyboards); Jeff Berlin (bass guitar).
  • Bruford's first foray as a solo artist, minus the baggage of Yes and King Crimson, is an unqualified delight from start to finish. FEELS GOOD TO ME is a broad encapsulation of the multitude of styles to which Bruford had been so far exposed in his illustrious career.
  • FEELS GOOD TO ME is the furthest thing in the world from just another drummer's solo album. With one foot in jazz and one in rock, this is fusion with nary a pretentious note. The progressive song stylings of the idiosyncratic "Back to the Beginning," the tricky time signatures, vibraphone clusters and spacey synth textures of "Beelzebub," and the Gong-like prog fusion of "Sample and Hold" reveal Bruford as a deft arranger bursting with ideas and eager to smash boundaries.
